What is this all about?

This is a site we came up with to show off the awesome pictures that can be taken with Apple's nifty little iPhone.

I was immediately blown away by how great the pictures were that this tiny little camera was taking and set out to create a site that iPhone users could share and show off the pictures that they were taking.

We've come up with categories to make it a little easier to navigate and to find and share photos. Some of our categories are: Travel, Nature, Celebrity Sightings, Sports and People. Email us if you think we are missing a category and we'll see what we can do to fix it.

It's fun poking around on the other photo sites out there to see what people take pictures of and we think our site is cool because each and every one came from an iPhone!

Are all photos on this site really from an iPhone?

Yes. Pretty cool huh? Hard to believe it, but every single photo, even the awesome ones, originated on the iPhone. We know this because Apple leaves a digital mark on all iPhone photos which our site can detect.

Is there an actual contest?

Sure there is! People can vote on each and every picture that is uploaded & we tally and show off the winners each month.

Will I get a car if I my picture gets the most votes?

Sadly, no. At least not yet. You do get bragging rights, though.

How about a new iPhone at least?

Not yet...We're working on some cool prizes, but for now, I will award my old Nextel to the first person who takes a picture of Bigfoot. No costumes stuffed in a freezer, either. A real Bigfoot. Or Elvis. Or a real Alien.

Say...do you guys work for Apple?

Nope...we're just Mac users who think the iPhone is pretty sweet.

How do I upload pictures?

Currently, you must do it from your computer which you use to sync your iPhone. It's much easier on a Mac using Leopard & Safari. Yes, it would be cooler if we had cross-platform functionality all the way back to Mac OS 7 but give us a break, we're just two guys with day jobs.

Uh...but can't I do it from my iPhone?

Not yet--but we are working on it. And, yes, we realize that we look like chumps for not being able to do so--yet.

So...how do I do it?

First, create an account. Secondly--the picture must be taken on an iPhone. We've spent millions of dollars to come up with a foolproof way for our server to be able to tell the difference (that's why there's no money left over to award a car). The site won't allow a non-iPhone originated photo to be uploaded. And really--the camera is pretty good, but we'll be able to spot a picture you took on your Nikon, Ansel.

The easiest process works like this:

Using iPhoto on your Mac:

If you are on a PC:

We're mac guys, but we've been told that importing iPhone photos to a PC is just as easy! When you connect your iPhone to your PC, apparently iTunes will import your photos. They will be available in the '/My Documents/My Pictures' folder, ready for upload to our site. If you know of other ways to successfully upload photos from a PC, email us and let us know.

A special note here: because of the way that our software examines the picture file, it is possible that an iPhone-originated photo will be kicked back. This can happen if you open your picture in something like Photoshop, edit it, and save it again. Also, in older software versions (v2.1 or earlier), when you email the photo to yourself from your iPhone, the photo gets stripped of its iPhone watermark. The resulting image is not recognized as an iPhone photo. Adjusting your picture within iPhoto using it's tools seems to be ok, though.

iPhoto '09 Upload Issues

Notice to iPhoto '09 users: There is a bug in the new iPhoto that strips the digital mark on your photos that prove they were from an iPhone. Apple is aware of this issue and will likely fix the bug on the next update. Until then, you can always email the photo to yourself from your iPhone, and then upload from your computer.

Why isn't my 5-star photo in the 'Top Rated' list?

Really, you think after just a couple votes are tallied, that your photo is worthy of 'Top Rated' status? We make sure your photo can stand the test of time, so 'Top Rated' photos require a minimum of votes.

A few guidelines about the content of your photos:

First, this is a family show so please don't post anything that MPAA would give an R rating to. If you do post pictures of your naked girlfriend, we will of course take them down from the site and proceed to show them around to the guys at the office.

We're nice guys and don't want to embarrass anyone, so please make sure you have the permission of your subject (if it or they are human) before you send them to the site. If anything is patently offensive or in poor taste, it will be deleted.

Museums are really touchy about pictures being taken of their art, so be careful there, too.

Final legalese last words: if you send it to us, we assume that you have done your homework and are the copyright holder. Remember what Metallica did to Napster!

Are you guys going to sell me out?

What?! Heck no! How could you say that? We love you! We won't ever give out our users' personal information, no matter how tempting it may be.

Do I retain the rights to my photo?

Of course! You retain the the rights to your photo in everyway shape or form, and you reserve the right to remove your photo at anytime from the site. We just ask that we be able to use some of the coolest photos to promote the site.
